Captain Mitch House, owner and operator of Everglades Private Airboat Tours, has been in business here for over 20 years. We are the original Airboat Tours operator in the Everglades area. In our private Everglades Airboat park, we see gators, birds, fish, and snakes. Come and see all of our native friends!

We are the only Everglades private airboat ride with exclusive access to 10,000 acres. Everyone else must share their land with other airboat tours. This privacy allows us to know where the animals are and schedule the airboat tours so we are not on top of each other which provides you with a much better Everglades airboat ride. Get up close and personal with our native friends.

The Everglades is an ecosystem unlike any other in the world. Similar ecosystems, such as the Amazon and Nile Basins, and the Mississippi River Delta all differ from one another in many ways. One common factor, however, is the presence of significant freshwater rainfall near an ocean or other saltwater body. This mixture creates brackish water, which plays host to the wide variety of flora and fauna found in the Florida Everglades and at our Everglades private airboat tour. The area is lush and green almost year-round due to the flow of fresh water created by the rains of 80″ to 120″ annually. These seasonal (mostly summer) rains create a sheeting action that flow less than 1 MPH both above and below the ground in Southern Florida.

Everglades Private Airboat Tours History

I am Captain Mitch House. I have personally been in the industry ever since I was knee-high to a bullfrog. I ended up following in the footsteps of my great-grandfather Barrel Head House, who built one of the first commercial airboats in the late 1950′s. Barrel Head was a fishing guide and used the Flamingo and Florida Bay areas of the Florida Everglades for his fishing clients. With an airboat, he found a great way to gain access to the shallow salt flats where the snook, reds, trout, tarpon, and many other fish species from the Everglades eco-system live. Later, the locals found these airboats were a great way to travel in the swamps of the Florida Everglades eventually opening up vast grasslands of Florida’s wetlands to hunting or frogging.

I’ve been involved in the tourist industry for more than 20 years here in Everglades City, Florida. As a mullet fisherman then a fishing guide for the first two years, I transitioned into a guide for Everglades private airboat tours. So trust me, I know these Everglades. Please come and let me show you the beautiful and magical scenery of the Florida Everglades.

The standard private airboat tour is about one hour. When your Everglades Airboat ride is over, you can visit our petting area and hold a baby alligator in your hands.

Restrooms are on site. Snacks are also available for sale. Due to sanitary reasons, we prefer not to use headsets and instead have new ear plugs available for $1.00.

Our year-round visitors are from Naples, Ft. Myers, Cape Coral, Marco Island, and Sanibel Island. Our seasonal guests come for all over of the United States and the rest of the world.
